There are many techniques available to create new neural networks in the brain. When new neural pathways are being formed in the brain they are not “strong” and permanent. But if we keep thinking the same new thoughts over and over again they will become permanent. Thinking new thoughts while adding emotions to them is one of the best ways to create new neural networks in the brain. The whole purpose with any “brain technique” is to create new, positive thought patterns and make them permanent and part of your subconscious thinking.
It´s all about creating new positive thought habits. It´s like the Greek philosopher Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC) once said:
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.
We have to create a habit of thinking positive success thoughts and this is where these techniques play an essential part. We have to apply them in our everyday life.
Most people grow up with limiting beliefs about what is possible to achieve in life. As such, their subconscious programming is stopping them from reaching their goals. What is needed is to think new, positive thoughts which will substitute our limiting and powerful thought-patterns.
In the last stage of pregnancy we receive our first “program”. The way the mother perceives the world influences the baby and the first “program” gets created. In the illustration to the left you see that the age line starts before we are born.
Then from age 0 to 6 the most powerful programming occurs from the environment we grow up in. This is because we are in the two lowest brain waves states, Delta and Theta, and in these states we are “programmable”.
Our minds keep being conditioned and shaped after we pass the six year mark. Between the age of 6 and 12 the programming is not as powerful, but it´s still influencing us.
According to prof. Bruce Lipton 95 – 99 % of our decision making is run by our subconscious mind. So, if you are not happy with the results you have gotten in life so far you need to address your subconscious mind and make it do what you want.
It requires daily repetition of new, positive thoughts and eventually your new way of thinking will become automatic. It will be part of your subconscious mind.
It´s like throwing pebbles into a bucket of water.
Imagine that your subconscious mind and all the programming from your childhood until this present moment is like a bucket of water. It represents the limiting beliefs stopping you from reaching your goals.
You want to change all that so you have to start thinking new, positive success thoughts. Each positive thought you make is like a pebble you throw into the bucket.
One thought will not make any difference so you keep going. Two, three, four, ten or one hundred pebbles will still not make a whole lot of difference, but you are on your way. You can´t see the progress of your new, positive, successful thinking, but slowly but surely it will force the water out of the bucket. It´s a process.
It´s like the Chines proverb:
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Eventually your whole bucket will be filled with pebbles. Your success thoughts have replaced all the limiting, negative thoughts in your subconscious mind. When I host seminars or do talks many people ask me: How long it will take to change a subconscious program?
It all depends on the amount of water in each person´s bucket. Some say it takes 3 weeks, some say 30 days or 60 days, yet others claim it takes 90 days and so on. In my experience you can´t specify this by using a certain number of days because we are all wired differently.
Yes, many will notice a change within 30 days or 60 days and some will be able to change their subconscious programming in just a couple of weeks.
Your bucket of water is not the same as my bucket of water. Also, research shows that strong intention is of utmost importance to change your life and reach your goals. Some people have a stronger intention to change than others, and that will of course influence how long it will take to make a permanent change.
One of the success traits found among successful people is perseverance – never giving up. No matter what type of mind-altering technique you use you have to keep at it. Start thinking new, positive thoughts every single day and just keep going until it becomes second nature.
